Sandbags weigh about 12kg when filled with sand (wet sand does NOT weigh very much more than dry sand), sand bags fit around the bottom of the legs with Velcro.  More than one sandbag can be fitted to each leg by positioning one on top of the other.  The use of sandbags in addition to guy ropes and pegs may be necessary to tether your QuikShade in some cases.  Always ensure your QuikShade is suitably anchored, gusts of wind have been known to lift over 50kg.

The larger the area, the larger the effect of the wind!  In the interest of safety for yourself and others - please do not use your QuikShade in bad weather conditions.

QuikShade Gutter Strip Installation

The gutter is designed to fit between 2 QuikShades of a similar side length, i.e. 3m – you can use the gutter to join a 3mx3m QuikShade to a 4.5mx3m QuikShade. However, it cannot be used to join a 3m QuikShade to a 3.6mx3.6m!  It is not designed to join a QuikShade to any other type of frame supplied by a different manufacturer.

1:  At either end of the gutter strip, you will notice that there are Velcro straps, one of these loops over the roof strut and the other is wrapped around the corner post.  The gutter strip is inserted between the fabric of the skirt and the roof struts.

2: The top of the gutter strip has a number of Velcro straps which are in turn attached to the roof struts. When these have been attached the process should be repeated on the second QuikShade – remember to keep the 2 QuikShades close together. The purpose of the gutter strip is simply to divert any rain that should run between the 2 roofs away from the inside of the covered area.

3: The ends of the gutter strip should protrude from just under the level of the skirts, this will act like a small spout and allow the water to dispense.

QuikShade Wall Installation

QuikShade walls are attached to the QuikShade frame – the strongest frame on the market.  By attaching the walls to the frame, it is possible to adjust the height of your QuikShade and still have walls that reach the ground.  (Walls that are attached to the fabric of the cover, are only designed to fit at one height setting!  QuikShades have 3 different height settings.)  Our walls are designed to fit a QuikShade; they are not intended to fit any other type of frame supplied by a different manufacturer.

1: Erect your QuikShade to the desired height.

2: Start by Attaching the Velcro on the wall loosely above the bottom corner bracket and over the lower roof strut.

3: Then attach the Velcro loosely over the roof struts along the side of your QuikShade.

4: When the wall is suspended, you can adjust the tension in the wall by attaching the velcro around the corner posts

5: From the outside, attach the Velcro on the skirt to the Velcro patch on the inside of the wall to reduce flapping in wind.

6: The walls are joined at the corner of the QuikShade with a zip, (one half of the zip is on the left hand side of the wall, the other half is on the right hand side of the wall you are attaching.).  The zip is pulled down to close the gap between walls.

7: At the bottom of the walls, there are loops to fit the wall pegs which have been supplied with your wall.

8: Fitting guy ropes to a QuikShade which has walls – we recommend that the guy ropes are attached to the frame above the lower bracket on the posts.  When walls have been fitted, it is easier to place the Guy Rope Pegs in the ground level with the inside of the wall about 30cm away from the bottom of the post – insert the peg at an angle to the ground to provide a good secure foundation.

Walls with doors and windows – Doors and windows can be added to your walls, ideal for Luxury Camping “Glamping.”

Half Walls

Half Walls are useful to create a semi-enclosed area, or the appearance of a counter front.  They are suitable for printing on the outside – the inside of a half wall is rarely visible!

How To:

Install an Awning on your QuikShade

The middle arm – the L shaped one is inserted into the middle pocket on the fabric and attaches to the frame as shown below.  Please notice it does slope slightly downwards – this is to reduce pooling of water should it rain. Similarly, the Left and Right brackets should be installed so that there is a slight downward slope – they attach around the OUTSIDE of the corner posts, (below the Sliding 2 –Lug bracket on the corner post) and are held in place by tension and friction.

The Velcro straps are used to pull the awning fabric into place behind the skirt so any rain will run off the cover and then on to the awning rather than between the awning and the skirt.
